Aeris: Cellular Connectivity Designed for IoT and M2M Solutions

 Syed Zaeem Hosain, CTO
The era of recording and updating patients’ reports has gone by. The shift from paper to digital is rapidly transforming the global medical industry, and healthcare is on the cusp of change and growth as a result of the adoption of Internet of things (IoT). According to Market Research, an online research company, the IoT for healthcare is poised to hit $117 billion by 2020. Leveraging a high speed cellular connectivity, and implementing wireless IoT devices like sensors, wearable, and health apps, enhance the access of healthcare information, improve distribution of routine, and emergency health services and provide well-informed diagnostics. Acknowledging the significance of the use of cellular connectivity in the healthcare sector, Aeris is strategically using it to deliver IoT and Machine to Machine (M2M) solutions. The offering of the firm enables clients to remotely monitor patients, transfer data, perform data analytics and also keep a check on the content and metadata being sent from mobile devices. Moreover, the firm’s dedicated mobile core network for Machine to Machine (M2M) traffic enables to provide data security so that devices are not hacked, are not taken over, or misused in any ways. “We work with healthcare application providers to assist them in transporting their data,” states Syed Zaeem Hosain, CTO, Aeris.

The company’s Application Enablement Platform (AEP), helps in the transportation of data from multifarious healthcare devices through a cellular network and enables data storage, analytics and display of that information, in either a summarized form, or in a web page or delivered through alerts and messages to the right people. “We are not working on the devices, but on the transport and de-livery of data from these devices, the analytics, and the predictions that we derive from monitoring the patterns,” says Hosain.

Our M2M and IoT solutions provide information about the behavior of the device in the operational network

The comprehensive IoT solutions of the organization, which include a complete stack of technology from the online management portal to application enablement platform, empower the firm to assist clients’ during network mishaps. He further expands, “We provide information about the healthcare devices’ behavior in the operational network, and if the device malfunctions, an alert is sent, whereby the problem can be dealt with immediately.” With the help of the firm’s o f f e r i n g s , clients’ can reset, debug or plug in the device through the company’s portal systems and procure the diagnostic information directly from the Application Program Interfaces (API) in the firm’s system.

Aeris’ ability to proffer quick solutions was one of the reasons that a particular client in the healthcare sector approached the company for wireless remote monitoring solution. The customer deploys healthcare application overseas, and required a remote solution that could provide seamless information on vaccines against certain diseases. The biggest challenge the client faced in certain countries, was the failure of vaccines due to high range of temperature. The M2M technology deployed in Aeris’ remote monitoring solution helped the client to monitor the temperature even for remote locations. The offering helped the customer to save money as well as ensure that the vaccines were sterile.

Presently, with the migration occurring from 3GM to 4GM networks, the organization is gearing up to deploy the 4G Network for cellular communication. The company also plans to expand their data centers and offices internationally and will keep on trucking innovative M2M and IoT solutions and improve the existing offerings.
